Mdina, Malta’s striking fortified medieval city, will be hosting the 2016 Malta International Food Festival on the first weekend of May. Here you can enjoy alfresco eating and drinking with food from numerous international cuisines. The event takes place in the ditch surrounding Mdina which is divided into sections, one for each region being depicted through the national dishes. Each area is decorated with flags and traditional items so you feel you are actually being transported from region to region.
In addition to the delicious food there will also be live cooking shows, so you can see how the dishes are made, live music on two separate stages hosting Malta’s finest artists and an impressive bar including a variety of quality wines.
On top of all this, the entrance to the festival is free of change and there’s no need to book in advance. Over 17,000 people attended the Food Festival in 2015: it’s definitely one not to be missed.
